Successive transformations
This is the first draft of this task whereby I expect students to fill in as much as they can. When questions 'naturally' arise from the class I shall then introduce information such as the order of transformation for CA. Another opportunity I have in mind to raise with the class is the fourth one down in terms of describing as a single transformations. This is not always possible and is important for students to realise this.
There is more than one possible answer for the third row and below depending on how you wish to use the task.
The final row I shall ask students to come up with their own version of starting information. I then intend to observe what they have gone with and use this to create a new task. I have already have a homework in mind, if I hadn't I would have asked my students to design their own version of this task (perhaps with four rows) whereby they decide on the starting information. They would then be instructed to hand their task to someone else for their next homework. Students must have a correct completed grid before they hand out their task.
